The University Scheme was introduced in 2005 by the United Grand Lodge of England with the objective to 'establish and/or enhance arrangements and opportunities for undergraduates and other university members to join and enjoy Freemasonry'. Spearheaded throughout the country by the Assistant Grand Master, RW.Bro. David Williamson and supported within the Province of East Kent by the then Assistant Provincial Grand Master, W.Bro John Grumbridge the scheme has provide St Augustine Lodge, No 972 the opportunity to cement its links with the City of Canterbury and the three Universities its supports in particular.
