Charity was the order of the evening, at the White Table meeting on the 19th October this year. Worshipful Master W.Bro Howard Griffin presented cheques on behalf of the brethren of St Augustine Lodge to three local charities
Home-start Canterbury and Coastal received £500 to help towards their support for local forces families.
Liz Collins, from Find-a-voice, a charity who help to develop alternative communication techniques for adults and children without the power of speech, was on hand to also receive a cheque for £500. Liz helped to demonstrate the equipment used by the charity and showed how the money would be put to good use.
Finally, a cheque for £6175 was presented to the Prostate Cancer Support Association for Kent to enable them to purchase a portable scanner. Mr Alan Prior, chairman of the charity, described how important the scanner was to the local area, helping with the early detection of the disease.
